Frank Warwick is the Sensei to Simon McCabe

The word master or mentor in Japanese has various translations. But over here in the west, it’s most common is Sensei. We all need help from time to time, both it in life and fishing, so today we’re heading up to beautiful Shrewsbury to fish a lake steeped in history and full of stunning scaly carp. And on this occasion, I’m not alone. My return to carp fishing has had its ups and downs – but this is definitely the ups!

My good friend John will be on hand with the camera along with a Sensei to guide and show us the way along this winding road.

Frank Warwick is a true carp angling legend and has inspired so many of us fisher type people for over 50 years!! His knowledge of everything fishing is amazing and will have you questioning your ways. I learnt so much from him over the 2 days we spent together and I am truly humbled to be given this opportunity to fish and film with such an honest, lovely guy.

Quote from Miyamoto Musashi:
“A man cannot understand the art he is studying if he only looks for the end result without taking the time to delve deeply into the reasoning of the study.”

Quote from Frank:
“Every once in a while someone walks into your life that lights up the room, with their passion, artistic creativity and character my friend Simon Mc Cabe is that man, his work has his magical touch woven deeply into its soul, Simon is an absolute joy to work with.”

Quote from Simon:
“What can I say but thank you Frank. You’ve inspired me for many years and, even tho I’m having to get my jaw re-wired for laughing too much, I thoroughly enjoyed our adventure together. Big thanks to John too.”

Quote from John:
“Thank god I didn’t mix up the RidgeMonkey Cosee seat with the toilet seat!”

If you find yourself lost in the forest of life, look up Frank. Wax on, wax off.
