Hinged stiff rig
What you`ll need..
Chod hook
Chod filament
Boom material (fluorocarbon or stiff coated braid)
Bait screw/micro swivel
Ringed swivel
Crimps (optional)
Tungsten putty
Rig tool
Cut approx. 7 inches of chod filament and fold in half to form a tight loop.
This will be the start of the chod side of the rig.
Pass the point end of loop through front side of your hook eye exiting through to the back.
You should now have a loop on the back side of the hook.
Slide on your bait screw/micro swivel onto the loop via the small ring, this is to mount your pop up.
Pass the Loop of your filament over the hook point, going from the back of the hook.
Gripping the hook,now pull the filament so it starts sliding down the shank
This will take out the excess filament & create a small opening shape for the pop up to move on.
Now tie your Chod filament to a ring swivel at your desired length. Here we will make it approx. 2 inches.
This is tied using a simple one turn blood knot to the non ring end of your swivel.
Once tied, tighten down and trim excess filament then blob tag ends with a lighter.
Curve the hinge using either steam or friction of finger & thumb.
This is to put a aggressive bend on the hook aiding hooking potential.
Now for the hinged boom section, here we will be crimping loops to either end of the boom for maximum movement.
Crimp a loop on to the ringed section of the swivel as shown & also a loop on the lead end.
You can also use any loop knot for this ie the figure of eight loop knot.
Add putty to the knot on the swivel or the loop knot/crimp section on the boom.
Test in margin and add more or less to get your desired sink rate of your pop up.
The rig is now complete.
This rig is used as a pop up rig, ideal for fishing over debris on the bottom of the lake bed.
