Elaine and Debbie Taylor ran out winners of the inaugural Ladies British Carp Cup Pairs event at Wetlands Carp Fishery, Nottinghamshire, landing six fish for a final weight of 74lb 13oz.
Despite coming out sixth in the draw, Elaine and Debbie got their second-choice swim and took the lead on the opening evening of the 48-hour match with a four-fish flurry. After that they never looked back and added two more fish over the remainder of the match, including one 10 minutes before the end, to take the £600 top prize by more than 40lb.
Second place went to Becky Sharman and Nicola Stannard, who caught two fish for a final weight of 31¼lb, earning them £300. Finishing third and winning £200 were Paula Marriott and Lyn Worster, whose one fish of 13lb 9oz was enough to beat fourth-placed Sam Hoskins and Ellen Beedham on 6¾lb.
Elaine and Debbie’s victory follows on from Elaine’s win in the Ladies British Carp Cup in 2015, and Debbie’s second-place finish in the same competition in 2016. The pair used Eclipse Baits boilies and CastawayPVA stockings to tempt their fish.
