A new Barston Lakes record was set in the second staging of the Celtic Carp Cup between Wales and Scotland at the Solihull day-ticket venue.
A weight of 1927lb 7oz was recorded in Section C by the Welsh pairing of Daniel Townsend and Ryan Green, helping Wales to a one-point victory overall and a successful defence of their crown.
Daniel said: “What a weekend fishing the Celtic Carp Cup, and Wales won it for a second year running! All the team fished well, and so did the Scottish. Then to top it all off, me and Ryan Green set a new Barston Lakes record. Buzzing!”
Wales also ran out winners in Section B, with Nick Oliver and Andrew Roberts amassing a final weight of 1487lb 15oz, while Scotland’s only highlight came in Section A, where Ben Mir and John Livingstone took the win on 1671¾lb.
