Korda Carp Line

It was a pleasure to have a little play with Carp Line a few months back at a Korda trade show. Most surprising of all was being told it retailed at only £12.99 for a 1000m spool.

Speaking about the new line Carp-Talk Hall of Famer Damian Clarke, who was involved in its design, enthused: “With a lot of our products, especially fishing lines, we work with some of the best manufacturers in the world. These guys are pushing the boundaries in manufacturing processes to create thinner, lighter and more technically advanced monofilaments. But with Carpline, we took a step back. Some anglers just wanted something simple and reliable, a ‘does what it says on the tin’ product, so Carp Line was born. A no-nonsense line suitable for most types of angling with a price tag that won’t break the bank!”

Carp Line will comfortably handle weed, gravel bars and mussels better than most lines, but if there are signs of abrasion then it is cheap enough to respool without hesitation. The line sinks well, even more so once it has been used a few times, and has been finished with a nice subtle SUB-green colour which blends in well with most lake beds and is hard to see even in clear waters. For such a tough line it behaves surprisingly well on the spool and casts well too. The line’s low stretch factor makes it ideal for feeling the lead down to the bottom and keeping you in contact with hard fighting fish. Supplied on 1000m spools Carp Line is available in 8lb, 10lb, 12lb, 15lb and 20lb breaking strains each costing just £12.99.
