British Carp Cup 2018 due for shake-up!

The news broke this week that the popular British Carp Cup is going to have a change of format this year. The old Northern, Midlands and Southern Carp Cups have all been scrapped and replaced with a combination of all three.

Competitors will lock rods in one of ten qualifying rounds to be played from right up in Cumbria to right down in Kent. Gaining a top three place in any of these qualifying rounds is enough to take any competitor through to the British Carp Cup final to be held on Barston Lake, Solihull. As the competition has been condensed, the prize fund has been increased too. The winner will receive £15,000, second £5,000, third £2,000 and fourth £1000.

Not only has the prize pool increased, but the format of the final has also been changed. The winner will be decided not on their total weight of fish caught, but on the cumulative weight of their top five largest carp. This new rule really does mean that any swim on the prolific midlands venue could throw up the winner and leaves the competition wide open. Tickets for the competition cost £420 per pair and are on sale to the general public from the 13th November 2017.
