La Plaine des Bois 1 is a carp lake based in Fontenay-sur-Loing, Centre-Val de Loire, France. It has a stock of around carp and is 6 Acres in size. The biggest carp is over 60lb+
The two lakes on the La Plaine des Bois domain were dug for the gravel excavation a few decades ago. The result are two beautiful lakes with depths of up to 13ft and an average depth of about 8ft. They are the oldest lakes in the area, so nature has had ample opportunity to develop. Due to the interesting depth differences on the lakes, we can certainly recommend that you use a rowing boat or bait boat with a echo sounder. Please note there are some fallen trees and branches in the margins… so adapt your gear and approach to this. If you like, you can do some stalking around the lake as well. At La Plaine des Bois you will be welcomed by the friendly host Suzy, she’s working at the local tourist office as well, so is very happy to recommend you some nice day trips and visits in the area.
The fish stock on both lakes is very interesting, because of the high stocking rate of the lake there is a good chance of action. Lake 1 has 150 common and mirror carp between 14 and 67lb, and an average weight of around 26lb. 12 grass carp from 28 to 50lb, 10 koi from 10 to 22lb and some catfish up to 7ft. There is also a large albino catfish of about 110lb. Please note: poisson chat and crayfish are present on lake 1, it is important to adjust your fishing and bait choice accordingly. We advise you not to fish and feed with fishmeal products and especially to use particles. Tigernuts, for example, are a perfect hookbait! You can however bait up with pellets too, the ones that are sold on site are much beloved by the carp.
A little thinking and good preparation will of course help to get more fish on the bank. In November 2020, the fish stock of La Plaine des Bois expanded with a great 67lb mirror carp and five ghost carp.
