The first of two qualifiers in the Midlands Carp Champs at Kingsbury Water Park’s Pine Pool produced 34 fish, with Chris Morris and Alex Driver running out winners on 10 fish for 169lb.
Fishing on his own, John Bowman took runners-up spot on eight fish for 142lb 14oz and also had the biggest fish at 26¼lb, while third place went to Daniel Holiday and Andy Goodall on six fish for 90lb 1oz. The two remaining places in the final went to Gaz Broadhurst, who had three fish for 40lb 15oz, and Glenn Alexander and Alan Scholes, who took two fish for a final weight of 30lb 14oz.
The second qualifier will take place on the same venue during the weekend of 18-20th August, with the final being held in September.
