A crowdfunding page has been set up to raise money for a defibrillator and emergency phone system to be installed at Broadlands Lakes after a 75-year-old man collapsed and died at the Hampshire day-ticket venue.
The man was fishing Broadlands with his 90-year-old best friend when he fell to the ground while packing his gear away at the end of his session. His friend performed CPR for 15 minutes until help arrived, but he could not be saved and was pronounced death by paramedics.
Debbie and Peter Beale, the owners of Broadlands, now hope they can raise £2000 to purchase a public defibrillator to install at the venue that could help somebody in their time of need. Anybody looking to contribute towards the hundreds of pounds already raised can do so by visiting www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/debbie-beale-2.
